Introduction

A considered, private practice rooted in Rochester, Kent.

Soul Care Therapy is the private practice of Kimouy McCalla, an experienced Integrative Arts Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. The practice offers psychotherapy for adults, children and adolescents, couples and families, alongside clinical supervision for therapists and other appropriate practitioners.

People come to therapy for many reasons — a difficulty that has become hard to carry, a pattern that keeps repeating, a loss, or a quiet sense that something needs attention. Whatever brings you here, the intention is the same: an unhurried, confidential space in which experience can be understood and worked with carefully.

Therapy does not offer guaranteed outcomes. It offers a professional, thoughtful relationship within which meaningful change becomes possible.

About Kimouy McCalla

Specialist areas

Difficulties frequently brought to therapy.

Clinically informed support across a range of presentations. Each piece of work begins with assessment and a shared understanding of what would be most helpful.
  • Abuse

Thoughtful, paced support for the psychological effects of abuse, with careful attention to safety, control and the pace at which anything is spoken about.

  • Anger

Understanding anger as communication — what it protects, where it began, and how it might be expressed in ways that feel less costly.

  • Anxiety

Working with worry, panic, avoidance and anticipatory fear, drawing on evidence-informed approaches alongside a deeper understanding of what sustains them.

  • Bereavement

Space for grief in its many forms, including complicated, delayed or unacknowledged loss, without expectation of a tidy timeline.

  • Depression

Attending to low mood, exhaustion, disconnection and hopelessness, and to the circumstances and patterns that hold them in place.

  • Low self-esteem

Exploring self-critical patterns and their origins, and developing a more compassionate, durable relationship with oneself.

  • Relationship and personal issues

Considering recurring relational patterns, boundaries, intimacy and the difficulties that arise between people and within ourselves.

  • Trauma

Measured, safety-led work with the effects of single-incident and cumulative trauma, at a pace agreed together.

  • Identity concerns

Reflective space for questions of culture, belonging, faith, role, sexuality and self-definition, held with respect and curiosity.

  • Emotional regulation

Developing understanding and practical strategies for overwhelming emotion, numbness or rapid shifts in emotional state.

Therapeutic approach

Integrative practice, shaped around the person in the room.

The therapeutic relationship

Change most often grows within a relationship that feels safe, consistent and genuinely collaborative. That relationship is the foundation of the work.

Integrative, not prescriptive

Therapy is not restricted to one model. Approaches are drawn upon thoughtfully according to your needs, presentation, developmental stage and goals.

Understanding, then change

We work towards a shared formulation — making sense of patterns and their origins — so that change is meaningful rather than merely behavioural.
