She has significant experience supporting children and adolescents, including young people referred to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), alongside extensive therapeutic work with adults. Her work includes supporting clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation difficulties and the psychological effects of abuse.
Kimouy has worked with people from diverse cultural and national backgrounds, and brings careful attention to culture, identity, context and difference within the therapeutic relationship.
An integrative approach
Her integrative approach means that therapy is not restricted to one therapeutic model. Instead, she draws thoughtfully upon different evidence-informed therapeutic approaches according to the needs, presentation, developmental stage and therapeutic goals of the individual client.
In practice this means the work is assessed and shaped collaboratively. Some clients benefit from structured, focused work; others need a more exploratory, relational or creative process. Many need both at different stages.
Social work and ministry
Kimouy is also a qualified Social Worker and licensed Minister. Her social work background informs a strong grounding in safeguarding, risk, systems and the practical realities of clients’ lives.
Faith may be sensitively incorporated into therapy for clients who specifically wish this, while clients of all faiths and none are welcomed and respected. Faith is never introduced into the work unless a client has asked for it.
Training and professional standing
Kimouy is a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and works within the ethical frameworks and professional standards of her registration, including ongoing supervision and continuing professional development. She has also undertaken training in EMDR and DBT.
